Marketing is all about the Numbers

At times, online marketing can seem like mystic hoodoo….and in the past it was in part, but these days we have enough analytics that we can calculate a decent ROI (Return on Investment) to determine where we should be spending our time and money.  Of course the best tool by far out there is Google Analytics, and best of all it’s available for free.  It’ lets you see what your website traffic is like, where it comes from, and how successful it is.  Most websites have a goal….gather business leads, brand marketing, sell product, etc.  Before you build a website though you have to do two things….competition analysis and a customer analysis.  These will help you determine what the goals should be for your website, and how best to succeed with them.  More on this tomorrow…I’ll use my own affiliate efforts as an example.
